Audition Date & Times

2022 Auditions finished. 2023 Auditions will be held in May (Dates & Times TBD)

How does it work?

Students auditioning will attend a leadership position interview, at Eastlake HS, for a 1-on-1 interview with directors and staff asking the students questions regarding their position of choice. Students are encouraged to dress in formal attire and prepare before attending their interview. All leadership positions are announced at the The Eastlake Band & Guard Banquet.

Requirements

These are the set guidelines and expectations to become a leader in the band program. Leadership positions are held to high standards. These students take on these positions to fulfill the strong qualities of the band.

Eligibility

Any student wanting to become an officer, drum major, or become part of the band's leadership must execute the following: 1) Be eligible a full year before taking office; and 2) Maintain eligibility during office. Any officer, drum major, or leader that becomes ineligible will lose their leadership position immediately and can't regain the position.

Attendance

Attendance is an essential part of a student’s band grade. Leaders must show qualities of punctuality, attentiveness and manage the attendance of their section/piers. If a student is absent (regardless of the season), they are unable to learn that day’s material.

Qualities

Student leaders demonstrate superior performance among individual and ensemble competitions through consistency, execution, and motivation. Leaders display a comfortable and efficient setting for others to perform and guide those who seek help. They contribute to the band in their unique way and seek out solutions to improve the overall program for the years to come. Finally, they set the standards and are role models for their section, program, and community.
